For day 27, the word we were given was 'symbols'. For todays shoot, I wanted my photos to link to the current situation of the corona virus. Therefore, I decided to take photos of rainbows around where I live. The rainbow symbolises hope and respect for the NHS during this difficult time. People around the UK, specifically children, have been drawing pictures and making rainbow signs that act as a symbol of light in dark times. I wanted to photograph these in the style of street photography, so I took inspiration from two photographers on instagram; Willem Verbeeck and Jack Ford. They both like to focus on street photography and film photography, therefore I edited my photos in a similar way to them; I slightly turned down the exposure and increased the green hue and the vignette. I am very happy with the final results of these images as the bright rainbow symbols contrast with the way that I edited the images. I also liked the angles that I used to shoot the photos as I made sure to include the surrounding nature and sky, which I think makes the pictures more effective and interesting for the viewer. If I had more time and could do this shoot again, I might try to buy a film or disposable camera and shoot with that instead of my DSLR camera.
