Day 18 is our final word that is to do with compositional elements; it is Depth of Field. For depth of field I decided to go out and photograph (extreme) close ups of still life. I focused mainly on taking photos of flowers and plants by using a narrow depth of field (which means that less of the image is in focus, but it has a very clear focal point). I think that using depth of field shows the viewer what your camera is capable of, and it makes the images seem more professional. I really like the outcome of my shoot for day 18 as I love how sharp and clear the images came out, I also think the vibrant colours stand out to the viewer. In editing, I emphasised the images by adding saturation and contrast, which gives a entirely new dimension and sensation to my images. As I was unable to find any artist references for today, I decided to create another moving image; a short 6 second video zooming up to a flower that I found in my garden. I made sure to show different angles and zoomed in and out so the viewer could see the different depths of field that each clip created. To make the image more interesting, I added transitions, effects and music that I thought fit the sensation of this moving image. I especially like the sparkle effect that I added to the video as it glamourises the moving image, thus making it more eye-catching.
