I picked this as one of my best images because I think that compositionally, the photo turned out perfect; the model is in the centre of the photo and the image clearly follows the rule of thirds. Furthermore, the colour palette in this photo blends really well together; the bright red poppies in the foreground contrast with the dramatic clouds in the background. I got my model to pose in an 'awkward' way to portray the struggles of complying with the almost impossible beauty standards that society puts on us; my photographer, Arielle Bobb Willis often does a similar thing in her own work. She is facing away from the camera and not showing her face, and I think that this was effective as it reinforces ideas of anxiety and impossible standards.
In this image, I wanted to use two models to create a 'busier' atmosphere. I got them to hold up their hands in uncomfortable positions to show the discomfort that some people feel every day. I dressed my models in bright clothes so that they stood out among the poppies and the viewer is able to establish a clear focal point, and is also able to look deeper into the meaning behind the models poses. I really like how vibrant the colours are, and overall I think that this image was successful because of how striking the photo turned out.
I'm really happy with this image and it is one of my best because I used a new technique; I took a poppy and put it up towards the lens of my camera so that the viewer would focus their attention to the colours within the image. I think that this technique was successful as it makes the photo stand out better, giving it a more dramatic outcome. I shot this photo from below, so that I was able to include the models entire body in the photo, as I think it has a more editorial effect when the viewer is able to see her entire outfit.
I think that this is one of my best images as I like how the poppies are in focus and there is a clear depth of field. I got my model to put her hands in front of her face, slightly covering it to convey a hidden identity. Arielle Bobb Willis typically hides her models faces so that the viewer focuses more on the meaning behind the image, as well as the outfits and locations. i like how my models black jumper contrasts with the overall colour palette in the photo; this makes the outcome more memorable.
This is one of my favourite and most successful images because I like the way that my models are doing the same pose. It is awkward and leaves the viewer feeling slightly uneasy, yet something about this photo is eye-catching and intriguing to the viewer. I really like how the warm tones of the clothing and poppies stand out against the plan coloured sky. I like how I shot this photo from below, as it makes the outcome more effective.
In this image, I got my model to pose in a similar way to how Arielle Bobb Willis gets her models to pose. Typically, she likes to photograph them leaning back in an uncomfortable position, so I wanted to try the same thing with this photo. I think that it turned out really well, and I think that this image is really meaningful. To me, this photo represents freedom; forgetting for a second about everything in life and being able to take in the nature and beauty around you. For someone with anxiety, it is often hard to let go, and I think this photo conveys that message really well.
For this photo I wanted to try something slightly different. I got my models to sit together and look directly at the camera. I wanted this photo to feel more personal, and I also wanted to capture the vibrant colours of their clothing. I really like how the colours complement each other, and I think that this image is really successful because of the use of the close up angle and natural lighting.
This is one of my favourite images because I love the angle that it was taken at. I wanted my model to lift her leg out in an 'awkward' position and shoot from below, similar to how my photographer would capture the photo. There is no clear focal point in the image, which I like because the poppies, model and clouds in the sky all look really effective and make a successful composition.
